News of 2023 Hyundai Elantra updates are slowly emerging, and they’re not all that exciting. There are very few changes for this year over last year’s model. However, it’s not a letdown. This affordable, entry-level compact family sedan isn’t thrilling, but small cars don’t really need to be. 

Is the Hyundai Elantra worth buying? Well, it is one of the best compact cars of 2022.

When does the 2023 Hyundai Elantra come out?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra is now available to build and order on Hyundai’s website. However, the 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has not been released. Car shoppers that want a hybrid version of this compact car will have to wait or opt for a 2022 model for now.

There will be no 2023 Hyundai Elantra GT (the hatchback was discontinued in 2020) or an Elantra Sport (discontinued in 2018) this year.

How much does the 2023 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Hyundai has shared pricing for the 2023 Hyundai Elantra and the new model year does indeed see a small price increase for each trim level. The entry-level Elantra trim starts at $20,500, which bumps it from the list of the best new cars under $20,000. 

2023 Hyundai Elantra pricing is as follows:

• 2023 Elantra SEL: ~$21,750
• 2023 Elantra Limited: ~$26,400
• performance tuned 2023 Elantra N Line: ~$27,050
• 2023 Elantra Blue HEV: ~$24,400
• 2023 Hyundai Elantra Limited HEV: ~$29,000

The 2023 Elantra will likely arrive with its classic 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. This powertrain makes the sedan one of the best gas sippers on the market, returning up to 33 mpg in the city, 42 mpg on the highway, and 37 mpg combined. This engine will likely come standard on the SE, SEL, and Limited.

There will be some spice available in the lineup. Hyundai is likely to release a 2023 Elantra N-Line model with a 201-horsepower turbocharged engine and sport-tuned suspension.

We estimate that there will be virtually no changes for this year. One change includes expanded options in the 2023 Elantra SEL Convenience package. Another change comes on the most expensive trim—-KBB reports that Hyundai killed the 6-speed manual transmission for the 2023 Elantra N-Line.

2023 Hyundai Elantra interior features

There will likely be few if any changes to the 2023 Hyundai Elantra’s interior. It should carry over from last year with generous cargo space and a standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The downsides to this cheap compact car? A fairly cheap interior in entry-level models. The Elantra SE comes with thin cloth upholstery and a plastic steering wheel.

However, upgrading to a higher trim level can bring immediate improvements:

A fully loaded Hyundai Elantra sedan offers heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, faux-leather or real leather seat trim, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. The 2023 Elantra interior should include all of these features.

2023 Hyundai Elantra vs. competitors

The 2023 Elantra will go head-to-head with the Honda Civic, the 2023 Toyota Corolla, the Kia Forte, and the Mazda3. The sporty Elantra N (technically outside of the main Elantra lineup) competes against higher-powered models the 2023 Acura Integra and the 2022 Volkswagen Golf R

So, will the 2023 Hyundai Elentra be worth it? There are quite a few compact sedans out there that are similarly priced and feel higher quality. But, if you want a cheap car that delivers on a simple promise, the Elantra is a solid option.
