Rose intensive tone up cream review

"Some By Mi - Rose Intensive Tone-Up Cream" is a well-rounded moisturizing product. This moisturizer uses a good combo of humectants and emollients. These both types of ingredients are essentials for improving the skin hydration and keeping the skin barrier healthy. Humectants in this product [panthenol, glycerin, saccharide isomerate, saccharomyces ferment filtrate and butylene glycol] help to increase the water content in the upper layer of the skin. [These ingredients do so by "capturing" water molecules from the outside air or from within the deeper layers of the skin]. Emollients in this formulation [dimethicone, dimethiconol, cyclopentasiloxane and isohexadecane] help to reduce the moisture loss from the skin. They also soften the skin surface and relieve the feeling of dryness and tightness.

Ingredient callouts

  • We particularly like that there is a good concentration of Niacinamide [1.60% - 2.40%] in this moisturizer. Niacinamide is a well-studied multi-tasking active. It is a great ingredient to have in a moisturizer. It is stable, and can work well in almost any hydrating formulation. There is solid evidence that Niacinamide can help support skin barrier, regulate oil production and reduce acne and clogged pores. It also helps to fight photodamage and help improve the skin tone, reducing pigmentation marks.
  • Adenosine 0.35% - 0.80%. It is a chemical present inside our skin cells. A clinical trial confirmed that topical application of Adenosine in a low concentration can reduce dynamic wrinkles [these are the wrinkles that appear with age in a places where our mimic is the most active, for example, in the corners of the eyes or on the forehead].
  • An effective concentration of Panthenol [pro-vitamin B5] - about 0.35% - 0.85%. Panthenol helps strengthen the skin barrier, improve hydration and reduce inflammation in skin.

This product contains ingredients that could be beneficial, but their concentrations are too low in this formulation: allantoin

Irritation risk

There are some common irritants in this product, including ingredients that do not have benefits for the skin. We assess the overall irritancy of this moisturizer to be high. For a detailed overview of all potential irritants:

How do you use Rose Intensive Tone Up cream?

Can be used on all skin types, even on sensitive skin! At the last skincare step, apply the cream onto face and body parts, massage and pat gently for better absorption.

Why use tone up cream?

It fixes dullness and discoloration, providing a brightening effect on your overall skin tone. Some ingredients that contribute to its brightening effect are niacinamide and fruit extracts. While tone-up cream brightens the skin, it also works hard to blur blemished areas.

How much tone up cream to use?

Tone up creams are often white or pink, so how much you apply will depend on how bright you want your skin to look. If you have a tan, or darker, complexion, apply as little as possible to avoid a white cast or looking gray.
