The high-performance four-door gets an array of interior and exterior upgrades.
What sets these AMG GT 63 four-door models apart from the previous car? All models bear the revised front-end that was introduced by the E Performance. This consists of widened outer air intakes that are directed more inwards with a new set of three vertical fins that direct air to the radiators for improved cooling efficiency.
The Starling Blue shade available in metallic and matte Magno finishes is added to the configurator as well. These were introduced to the range in the 43 and 53 models but are now available for the eight-cylinder selection. With this, the catalog features four matte, five metallic, and two solid paint finishes. If you want a more exclusive appearance, you can select the new AMG Night Package II or join the existing Night Package with the AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package.
The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 powertrain has been left untouched, and we have no qualms about that. In 63 guise, it delivers 575 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque, giving it a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds. The 63 S maintains its 630 hp and 664 lb-ft output with a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.1 seconds. Both cars feature the brand's 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system with fully variable torque distribution and a nine-speed automatic transmission, but only the S has the tail-happy drift mode.
Fitted as standard to both models is the AMG Ride Control+ air suspension with electronically controlled adjustable damping. This feature was available on the range before but it now uses a new damping system that employs a pair of pressure limiting valves outside of the dampers. One valve manages the rebound damping while the other takes care of the compression damping. The benefit of separating these functions is improved comfort and cornering characteristics.

For the GT 63 range, this means customers will have access to a plethora of luxurious hand-crafted materials and exclusive paint finishes. Included in this are Arabian Grey, Cashmere White Magno, and China Blue for the exterior with more to come over the next few years.
Within the cabin, a new standard-fit two-tone AMG Performance steering wheel together with the seats and trimmings can be upholstered in a selection of Nappa leather with diamond quilting. High-pile floor mats with embroidered AMG lettering come as a finishing touch to the sporty interior.
AMG models like this one won't be around forever but we sure are glad that the fiery sedan is sticking around for a while longer.
