  • Bug fixes and stability improvements. We chased some bugs off the lawn with a rake, then cleaned up a bit.

Skype for Windows 8.71.0.49, Skype for Mac 8.71.0.45, Skype for Linux 8.71.0.36, and Skype for Web 8.71.0.41 began rolling out April 12, 2021, and released gradually over the next week.

  • Let me see your ID: Just got invited to a call with an ID? Now you can paste that ID directly into Skype to join. Learn more about joining calls.

Skype for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Web 8.57.0.116 begin rolling out March 2, 2020, and release gradually over the next week.

  • I don't even know that guy: Time for some spring cleaning! You can now delete a contact from your contact list.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements. We've fixed a bug that was making caption languages display incorrectly, so you're now able to see the caption language options along with your device language. We also made a few performance enhancements.

Skype for Windows and Linux 8.56.0.103, Skype for Mac 8.56.0.106, Skype for Windows 10 8.56.0.102/Microsoft Store Version 14.56.102.0, and Skype for Web 8.56.0.100 begin rolling out January 27, 2020, and release gradually over the next week.

  • Instantly Quotable: You can now use keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste quotes on Windows and Mac. Turn it on in Settings > Messaging > Paste copied messages as quotes to try it out. Learn more about improved quoting in Skype.
    Note: Improved quoting is not available in Skype for Windows 10 [Version 14].
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements: We've fixed some issues, including:
    • Sys tray icon should not appear offline anymore after a computer launch.
    • Split view should not get disabled by itself anymore.
    • When using split view, new messages sync now better in open chat windows.
    • Auto-answering working better when the app was backgrounded on desktop.

Skype for Windows, Mac, and Linux 8.55.0.141, Skype for Windows 10 8.55.0.131/Microsoft Store Version 14.55.131.0, and Skype for Web 8.55.0.123 begin rolling out December 10, 2019, and releases gradually over the next week.

    you can quickly and easily create a meeting and invite anyone [even if they aren't on Skype]just by sharing a link.
  • Send a message with tone:Is text losing your tone? You can now send a voice message in Skype instead. Also, feel free to show off that guitar riff you just learned.
  • Bug fixes and stability improvements:We smashed some bugs, but a quick trip through the car wash cleaned the windshield quite nicely.

Skype for Windows, Mac, Linux, Web, and Skype for Windows 10 8.54.0.91/Microsoft Store Version 14.54.91.0 begin rolling out November 4, 2019, and releases gradually over the next week.

  • A better split: We've made some improvements to split view, like remembering window sizes and positions, correctly restoring minimized conversations, proper focus on the message composer, and more.

  • Keeping up appearances: Your appearance settings are now kept when you sign out of Skype.
  • You can now quit Skype for Windows 10 right from your system tray.
  • Share more while taking up less space: When you share multiple images or videos, they are now collapsed into an album within your conversation.

  • Get notified when your friends are online: You'll now receive a pop-up notification when a contact goes from offline to Active. Learn how tomanage your notifications.
  • Keep your background blurred: We've added the option toBlur Background for all callsunder the audio and video settings. [not supported in Linux]

Skype for Windows desktop, Mac, Skype for Web, and Skype for Windows 10 8.41.0.54/Microsoft Store version 14.41.54.0, begins rolling out March 11, 2019, and releases gradually over the next week.
  • Large group calls: You can now start a group call in groups of up to 50 members.
  • The sound of silent meetings: Group calls with more than 25 participants will now be ringless. Rather than ringing everyone in a group, they'll receive a notification that the meeting has started and can jump in when they're ready.
  • To ring or not to ring?For group video calls with less than 25 participants, you can choose whether you want your call to ring everyone in the group or be ringless.
  • More ways to block unwanted spam calls: When you receive a call from an unwanted phone number, you'll have the option to block the number right from the chat.
  • More room to breathe: Increase or decrease the width of your chat panel during a call to give your instant messages a little more space.
  • On the move: The location of the chat panel during a call has moved to the right.
  • Integrating Skype calls into your content just got easier: You can now enableSkype for content creatorsduring a call.
  • Stay in touch by being in sync: When you choose tosync your address book with your Skype contact list, your contacts can now be found across your devices so you can connect even more.

Windows desktop, Mac, and Linux 8.34.0.78, and Skype for Windows 10 8.34.0.81/Microsoft Store version 14.34.81.0 begins rolling out November 12, 2018, and releases gradually over the next week.
  • Update to the volume control on Mac: The volume control on macOS is now separate from the system volume.
  • Switch between cameras: Easilyswitch between multiple camerasduring a video call, just right-click on your avatar to select a different camera.
  • Easily share Skype contact details with others: From a chat, select theshare contact
    button, select a contact to share, and then selectsend.
  • Split window view: Available in Skype for Windows 10 [version 14]. Put your contact list in one window, and each conversation you open in a separate one. Select the more menu, and then select Enable split view mode. Learn more aboutsplit window view in Skype.

Windows desktop, Mac and Linux 8.30.0.50 begins rolling out September 12, 2018, and releases gradually over the next week.

  • Conveniently access your audio settings during a call: Just hover over the microphone button to quicklyadjust your audio settings.
  • Fine-tune your webcam settings: Put your best face forward by adjusting your image brightness, contrast, hue, and more in yourwebcam settings.
  • Fewer missed calls: No more sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. Use an additional audio device as asecondary ringerfor Skype calls.
  • Search a conversation for a keyword or phrase: Use theFind featureto stay on top of your conversations and instantly refer back to a chat from days, weeks, or months ago.
  • Read receipts:See at a glance who's read your messages. Once someone reads your message, their avatar appears beneath it in your chat - so you can see how far they've read in the conversation.

Windows desktop, Mac and Linux 8.29.0.50 begins rolling out August 27, 2018, and releases gradually over the next week.

  • Signed in as: Have multiple Skype or Microsoft accounts? We've made it easier to identify which one you're signed into. Tap your profile picture and both your Skype Name and the account you're signed in as will be displayed.
  • Archive your conversations:Hide your conversations by archiving them.Learn more.
  • Stop unwanted calls: Unwanted calls from people you don't know can be a distraction. Now, you can avoid those distractions and choose to only allow calls from your contacts to ring.Learn more.
