1.0 out of 5 stars 102 of the same cards? Really? Okay. Let me start out by saying I just started playing magic, and I was looking for a bulk set with a lot of variety. I, for the most part, got that. HOWEVER: as I was sorting my cards (as one is want to do), I noticed something odd. I kept getting "Evolving Winds". I was hoping for Land cards (mana), but "Evolving Winds" is a sacrifice card that allows the player to lay down another land card. It was comical at 10. A little irksome at 25. At 50, I drew eight at once, and continued going through the deck. 102 of my ONLY 800 CARD ORDER (I ordered 1,000. I PAID FOR 1,000 CARDS. I'm pretty great at math, and I'm incredibly certain that 800 cards is SUBSTANTIALLY LESS than 1,000) what am I supposed to do with 102 of the same card??? Apparently I can't sell them, because game shops on the Internet are selling them in BULK. Also attaching a picture. The 2 are on the box: which shows it holds 800 cards, the columns on either side of the box are in 20's, and the 5 columns in the middle are in counts of 10, with every title of the card showing so you can be absolutely certain I am not lying. There were repeats of various other cards, but my stack of "Evolving Winds" was nearly as large as my red deck I purchased at the store in my town, so I had to post it. My first message to them: I ordered your product: 1000 magic cards, plus bonus 25 rares. The description contains the phrase "Duplication will be light". Of the 1000 common/uncommon cards, the box contained 108 copies of Aggressive Urge, 111 copies of Netter en-Dal, 54 copies of Nim Replica, 52 copies of Canopy Surge, 64 copies of Lifespark Spellbomb, 29 Vulshock Berserkers, 36 Battlegrowth, and 24 Deconstruct. In the remaining 524 cards (totaling 1002), there was a fair amount of duplication, sometimes upward of 10-15 copies, but they were distributed, somewhat, throughout the cards. The cards I listed above were all in a row, sometimes turned at a different orientation from the rest of the cards, like someone just grabbed a handful out of a stack of identical cards and shoved them in the box to fill space. I find it impossible to believe that the person filling this box didn't know they were packing almost half the box with a ridiculous amount of duplicates. Before I post this message as my review, I would very much like to offer you the opportunity to make this right. By my casual and generous calculations, you have, with these duplicates, shorted me 446 cards that I purchased (478 grossly duplicated cards - 32, allowing for 4 copies of each of the duplicated cards to count as "lightly duplicated"). As these were intended as a Christmas present, your prompt response will be appreciated. The description states that this product has "great variety" and "light" duplication of cards. It also says that there are more than 1,000 cards to make up for what duplicates you might end up with. HOWEVER, I ended up with (and I count) 120 copies of the EXACT SAME CARD. 2. This excessive duplication continued throughout the entire set of cards, and I now have about 40 of the this card, and another 30-some of another. 3. Therefore, NO amount of "additional cards" to "make up for the duplications" will make up for the fact that I have about TWO DECKS' WORTH of the SAME CARD and ended up with only about 200-some cards, considering all or most of them had about 20-some duplicates. 4. It says it has cards from a variety of different sets. This is true, but KEEP IN MIND that if you are wanting to play these at any STANDARD tournament, NONE of them are new enough to be used in current game-play. Unless you just play with your friends, these are essentially useless. 5. The "25 rare" statement is also a LIE. I opened the box and the first thing I found was an actual plastic-wrapped set of cards, which I took to be the so-called "rares." While a few of them were in fact "Rare" cards, a majority of them weren't and were no different than the other cards of the set. SO, in summary, I don't want you to fall victim to the same scam
that I have now fallen for. In preparing to order this, I made a point to read over the reviews and see what others had thought so far. Card quality is near mint, no damages from what I have observed. This is a good choice if you're just starting out. Please note that there are only 24 lands and one snow land, so you might have to purchase a set of basic lands. Definitely happy with this purchase. P.S. You shouldn't expect to find any $20 cards in this lot, but neither did I get a ton of duplicates of any card. It was a pretty good variety.
