If a user blocks you on Facebook, his Timeline is longer visible to you and his profile does not appear in search results or in friends lists. You cannot send messages or friend requests to someone who has blocked you. Because Facebook makes it appear as if the user no longer has an account on the site, it can be difficult to figure out whether a person has blocked you or deleted his account. If a client, employee or other business contact has suddenly disappeared from your friends list, a little investigating reveals if you've been blocked.

1

Log in to your Facebook account and then enter into your Web browser's address bar the URL associated with the user's account. If you don't know the URL associated with the user's profile, type the user's first and last name into the Facebook search bar.

2

Select "See More Results" if the user's profile does not appear in the first screen of results. Click "People" in the left column and then enter a location, education or workplace in the area supplied, if known, to narrow the results.

3

Log out of your Facebook account if the user does not appear in the search results or if the user's account doesn't load after navigating to the appropriate URL.

4

Start a new search for the user in a search engine. If the user appears in the search results when you are logged out, the user has blocked you.

5

Enter the following search term into Google if the user's account does not appear after searching Facebook:facebook.

Replacewith the first and last name of the user. If the user has a common name, add that person's hometown or current city to the search string as well.

6

Open each result in a new window or tab. If you can find the user's profile in the Google search results, log back into Facebook while on his account page. If an error appears telling you that the user doesn't exist or if you are redirected to your profile, you have been blocked.

Tips

  • If you have any common friends, contact a friend and ask if he can still view the person's Facebook page. If he can, you have been blocked.
