Is the 2023 Ford Ranger a redesigned truck?
The Ranger has been fully redesigned for the 2023 model year! And you’ll be able to recognize this new midsize truck as soon as you lay eyes on it. That’s because, with its new exterior design, the Ranger looks more rugged than ever, much more like an F-150 than the outgoing model. Gone are the old Ranger’s rounded edges and dated grille. In their place, you’ll find a bolder front end and new signature lighting. And a newly available zone-lighting system lights up the area around your Ranger, so you can get to work before dawn or after dark.
Inside, the updated Ranger also has an increasingly modern vibe. In the center of its new dash, you’ll find a vertically-oriented infotainment display [a standard 10.1-inch or optional 12.1-inch touchscreen]. And this Ranger will also include Ford’s latest infotainment technology, SYNC 4, which upgrades your experience with faster processing speeds and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
How powerful will the 2023 Ford Ranger be?
Although this new Ford Ranger looks and feels a lot different from its predecessor, we don’t expect it to introduce any new powertrain features. At least, not for the 2023 model year. Instead, this midsize truck’s original powertrain will probably carry over into this new generation.
The current Ranger powertrain includes:
- Turbocharged 2.3L four-cylinder engine
- 10-speed automatic transmission
- Rear-wheel drive
- Optional four-wheel drive
Which 2023 Ford Ranger is best?
The answer to this question will vary from driver to driver. To find the answer for you, ask yourself what you want in a daily driver. Do you want a great price on a rugged ride? Then check out the entry-level Ranger XL. Do you want to balance price with a longer list of modern amenities? The mid-level XLT gives you more features without raising the price very much. Looking for luxury? You want the Lariat. Want to take off-roading to new heights? Check out the 2023 Ranger Wildtrak.
How much will the 2023 Ford Ranger cost?
Once again, we don’t have exact figures for how much the future Ranger will cost. But, based on previous models and the current market, we can take an educated guess. We expect the Ranger to start around $27,000. And that price will rise according to which features and trim level you select.

and 10-speed automatic transmission that’s in the 2022 Ranger. Output for the turbo 2.3-liter engine is 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. Diesel engine options and a manual transmission will be available on the global version of the Ranger. However, these options are unlikely to be offered in the U.S. The towing capacity for the 2023 Ranger will likely be the same as the 2022 Ranger, which has a maximum
towing capacity of 7,500 pounds. On the off-roading front, a Ranger Raptor model is expected to have the same twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 engine that’s in the Ford Bronco. The redesigned 2023 Ford Ranger looks like a larger version of
the Ford Maverick compact pickup truck. It has similar bold wheel arches and C-shaped LED headlights as the Maverick, with an added side step behind the wheel arches. Also, compared to the 2022 Ranger, the redesigned 2023 Ranger is slightly larger, with a 2-inch increase for both the wheelbase and track width. This size increase should improve the ride quality

of an upgrade, so the redesigned interior of the 2023 Ranger is a welcome improvement. The 2023 Ranger will have a choice of a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen or an optional vertically-orientated 12.0-inch version. Both of the touchscreens will operate the SYNC 4 infotainment system, which can control drive modes and display off-road modes. Also, the 2023 Ranger will offer an available wireless charging pad for smartphones. Furthermore, the redesigned Ranger adds more cargo space
under the rear seats and in the doors. With the redesign and upgrades, the 2023 Ranger should be a more competitive model against other midsize trucks, such as the Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Colorado, and Nissan Frontier.
