Bose wave dab cd player reviews năm 2024

I just bought a Bose Wave Music System (CD player and Am/FM radio). I know Bose products are looked down upon by many here, but I wanted to share my opinions now that I've had a few days to listen to my system with various CDs and radio stations. .

In short, I love it. It's easy to set-up and use, it's sleek and beautiful, and to my ears, it sounds excellent. I particularly like that it has 6 pre-sets each for AM and FM.

The one and only downside is it's way, way overpriced at $499. There's really no reason for it to cost that much, but aside from that, I couldn't be happier.

Is it for everyone? No, of course not, but it delivers the sound quality that's more than good enough for me to enjoy my music, and I could hook it up and figgure out how to use it in under 10 minutes.

So if you're on the fence, and you don't mind spending the money, I think it's a fine, quality product that at the very least deserves consideration.

Does anyone else here own one? Agree? Disagree?

GaryNauga Gort!Staff The fact that I don't really need something like this has always held me back from investigating "table top" music machines. If I ever did (kitchen music?) it would probably be something much cheaper.

I'm not aware of a Bose store that has these so I can hear one first.

A studio where my daughter takes dance lessons relies on one of these things, fed by an iDevice, for all the associated music. It's in a big room, acoustically live to be sure, but definitely big, with I guess 12-foot ceilings and, above an 8-foot divider wall, opening into a waiting/lobby area that adds further to its effective volume. I've been flatly astonished at the volume of sound and the amount of bass with which the little Bose gizmo fills that acoustically hostile environment, easily surmounting the commotion of umpty little kids and a couple of teachers madly tap-dancing away, even on "parents' day" when the room was also full of 20 or 30 adults around the edges. I don't know how the Bose contraption would hold up for "serious" listening, but I would never have expected a couple of such dinky speakers housed in a two-bit plastic case to be able to do that.

I have my misgivings about the long-term viability of the market for my beloved full-sized purely stereo equipment, given the present generation's apparent reluctance to invest space in gear and likely trends in the cost and availability of large residential accommodations. What I've heard at the studio does nothing to ease them. In its advertising, Bose stresses, approximately, "you don't need big equipment for big sound," and I'd guess that for many people, like the originator of this thread, it's right: the wave thing would be plenty good enough as a music source. Let me stress: I have not heard the Bose thing in direct comparison with good traditional equipment. I assume that it would not fare especially well in such a test--although I wouldn't be surprised if it held its own against home-theater-in-a-box type stuff--but how many potential purchasers would ever have the opportunity or desire to undertake it?

So, to the original poster, I'd say: congrats on finding a satisfying and compact source for your music. Don't waste time agonizing; just sit back and enjoy.

They do it with an acoustic labyrinth, a form of transmission-line speaker loading. The design has been around since the 1930's, but of course Bose claims it to be their "breakthrough" technology. They won't rattle the windows, and won't comptete with that "whump-mobile" out in the parking lot, but they are magnitudes better than the average table radio.

    > They are just that... table radios. Very good ones for what they are but nothing more. I have heard a couple in different spaces and they do have a warm and full sounding output. It is compressed and bandwidth limited, so the resolution isn't that great. It will not replace any sort of true hi-fi gear but it is after all just a glorified table radio. If that is what you are after, it is not a bad product. I suspect that other makers would offer a better version for that amount of coin however. Many nicer iPod docking table radios that fit that bill by brands such as Tannoy and B&W.

    > are you discussing the Wave or the Acoustic Wave system? both are cd am-fm and both are tabletop sort of devices.

the one that looks like a clock radio or the one that looks more like a small suitcase do you mean?

    > they are horrid plastic honky things imvho

tivoli a much more purest approach

(The one without the CD player is 50 bucks less)

    > Tivoli

With the Bose costing $499 I would consider the Tivoli Model 2 with it's matching subwoofer. The Model 2 costs $299 and the matching sub is $159. It has a more conventional wooden box cabinets (rather attractive, I think) that can be positioned in a stereo setup. It has built in AM/FM and an Aux stereo mini plug input.

You would need to supply some type of CD player or iPod device though for the Aux input. I have ~$60 CD portable that I use with mine (sometimes I use my XM or iPod Nano instead). With the Model 2, sub and CD portable you have a compact system and you are within the same price range as the Bose.

    > Enjoy your Bose. But they're not for me.

We had one similar to this one at work.

    http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/shop_online/wave_systems/awms/index.jsp

I took my modded sony CD\SACD player to work one day and played some SACD's thru the auxilary inputs of the Bose and changed back and forth between the CD and SACD layer on several discs. I couldn't tell the difference between the layers when played through the Bose. Absolutely change in detail or soundstage or tonality. If this is good sound to some people then what I build would psychologically scar them for life. And I don't claim to build the best sounding amplifiers in the world.

    > If it was so great $499 would not be expensive. In short an overpriced nice table radio

    > I got my wife on of these years ago that sits on her bedside table. She loves it and it's easy for her to use. > Not my cup of tea but I hope you enjoy it. > gotcha, actually based on the price you mentioned in your first post was the clue I could have used to figure out which one you were talking about as the larger one is over a grand.

My sister has one of these and she LOVES it. I don't really need a clock tabletop radio myself. this does get a lot of flak in here from many members, but man, this is one popular audio device in the world today. Just like the ipod, my favorite device these days...

I've heard this used as background music at my sisters, its her "stereo" now and well it does the job with a room full of people, though she's not a critical music listener.

    > I am glad that you are happy with what you have, Paul. I sorta sneered at these (the usual anti-Bose prejudice, I'll admit) until I heard one at my pal's place. It's a very nice music appliance, just right for someone whose main desire is just to play music and not worry about audiophilia overmuch. Listened to some Indian music, Miles Davis and Abbey Road; sounded fine. Warm, clear, and (yes) surprisingly full-sounding for such a small unit. Enjoy, Paul!

If I lived in (say) a studio flat, and the thing had a DVD input, I'd be perfectly happy widdit. Unfortunately (or not), I've drunk the Rega/Naim/Linn/Quad audiophilia too deeply...

Is the Bose Wave CD player good?

I like everything about the Bose Wave Music System IV. It's nice to have a radio that just simply turns on and off and a CD player that just simply plays when a CD is inserted, no need to get out the iPhone, connect to Bluetooth, etc. just to listen to a little music, no boot up and annoying menus.

Why is Bose discontinuing the wave music system?

The "Acoustic Wave Music System II" was released in 2006 and added MP3 CD playback, a "Boselink" port and a headphone jack. This system was judged to be expensive and lacking in performance and features compared to its competitors. The line of Acoustic Wave Music System products was discontinued in 2017.

Is Bose Wave Radio worth the money?

The Bose Wave Sound Touch Music System IV is a great addition to our living room where we like to listen to the radio or favorite CDs we've collected over the years. It is attractive and just the right size. Love being able to control the system from across the room with the remote control! Recommend this product.

What is better than Bose Wave?

If you're wondering how this radio compares to the Bose Wave Radio read on! Spoiler Alert: The Sangean WR-22WL is the clear winner in both sound and functionality and at roughly one-third the price!
