Before You Start

  • Make sure to turn up the volume level on the computer.
  • Place your device within one meter (three feet) of the computer.
  • Make sure your computer supports the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP) Bluetooth® profile.
  • The drivers needed to connect your device to a computer are already included in the operating system.
    • If your computer is asking for a Bluetooth driver, contact your computer manufacturer.
    • If you're using a VAIO® computer, Bluetooth drivers are available online. Downloads are posted on your model support page.

Pair Your Headphones or Speaker to the Computer

Select your operating system below for steps on how to pair your device with a computer.

Follow these steps to connect Bluetooth devices to a computer:

Connect using the Swift Pair function (Windows 11 or Windows 10)

Note: You need to activate the following setting before you can use the Swift Pair function:

  • Windows 11: Bluetooth & devicesDevicesShow notifications to connect using Swift Pair
  • Windows 10: Bluetooth & other devices Show notifications to connect using Swift Pair (only available for Windows 10 version 1803 or later)
  1. Turn the computer on or wake it up if it is in Standby (Sleep) or Hibernation mode.
  2. Select Connect from the pop-up menu displayed on the computer screen.
    Note: If the pop-up menu is not displayed, use the Connect the headphones without using the Swift Pair function method.

Connect without using the Swift Pair function

Windows 11

  1. On the computer, press the

  3. Select Bluetooth & Devices.
  4. If Bluetooth is set to OFF, set it to ON.
  5. On the Devices menu, select Add device.
  6. On the Add a device screen, select Bluetooth.
  7. Select the model name of your device.
  8. A window will pop up indicating the Bluetooth connection is complete.

Windows 10, Windows 8.1

  1. On the computer, press the (Windows icon).
  2. Select (Settings).
  3. Select Devices.
  4. Select Bluetooth & other devices.
  5. If Bluetooth is set to OFF, set it to ON.
  6. Select Add Bluetooth or other device.
  7. On the Add a device screen, select Bluetooth.
  8. Select the model name of your device.
  9. A window will pop up indicating the Bluetooth connection is complete.

Notes:

  • If a Passkey (Passcode, PIN code, PIN number, Password, etc.) is required, enter 0000.
  • If the model number of your device doesn't appear on the computer, try again from Step 6.

To resolve the issue, make sure to press the Power button on the headphones for seven seconds to put the headphones in pairing mode before you pair the headphones with the computer. After the headphones are in pairing mode, both WH-1000XM4 and LE_WH-1000XM4 appear on the computer screen.

Right-click the volume icon on the windows toolbar, then click [Playback devices]. Right-click [WH-1000XM3]. If [WH-1000XM3] is not displayed, right-click on the [Sound] screen, then select [Show Disconnected Devices]. Click [Connect].
