Related Searches Nature Republic / Face Mask WHAT I LOOK OUT FOR IN A MASK: To achieve plump, whitened and moisturised skin. To achieve long-term benefits like: less skin breakouts and a smoother complexion. Fit of the mask must cover my under-eyes. A mask with an affordable price point as I use a mask on a daily basis. With all my mask reviews, I make sure I use the mask at least twice, to give just and well contemplated reviews. 1) REVIEW: Etude House Darling Sheet Mask (25g, 0.88oz)Price: This cost 4000 won (USD $3.70, SGD $4.70) per mask in Korea. Since September 2014, the Korean won has dropped against the USD so now is a great time to make a trip to Korea if you have any intentions to do so :)) Anyway, this Etude House snail mask is one of the more pricey masks in Korea as most masks generally cost between 800 to 2500 won each. For my South-East Asian readers, this mask retails for USD $6.40 (SGD $7.90) in the Etude House Singapore store so beware of the mark-up in your respective countries! 🙂 Thoughts: PROS: Enough liquid in mask. And like all gel masks, it adheres on to your face perfectly. It was a very “comfortable” mask which didn’t irritate my skin, unlike Secret Key and Nature Republic. CONS: Excessive packaging to protect the mask. Anyway, this didn’t cover the under eye area sufficiently. So it felt like the under eyes missed out on some important “masking” time. After taking off this mask, my face didn’t appear very brightened. Skin was soft, but all face sheet masks provide a decent level of moisturisation. Two whiteheads appeared on my face the next morning. OVERALL: 6.5/10. No visible/dramatic results, average moisturisation and so expensive. Doesn’t fully cover the under eyes, which is so important. Possibly broke my skin out. Mehhh. Its effectiveness doesn’t justify its high price. I don’t recommend it. 2) REVIEW: Nature Republic Snail Solution Mask Sheet (20g, 0.71oz)Price: Did not pay for this mask as this was a free gift-with-product. But I have seen this on Q100 (South East Asia’s Gmarket equivalent) for SGD$10.80 (USD$8.65) for 8 pieces. Please note that Q100 prices fluctuates on a daily basis so what you paid yesterday may be cheaper today. Thoughts: PROS: Your skin will feel moisturised even till the next morning. CONS:
OVERALL: 0.5/10. Sensitive skin maskers be aware! This may or may not irritate your skin. Personally, the stinging sensation, irritation to my eye, enlarged pores are a No-No for me. 3) REVIEW: Secret Key Snail+EGF Repairing Mask Pack (20g, 0.71oz)Price: Paid SGD $8.90 (USD $7.12) for 20 masks delivered from Q100 (South East Asia’s Gmarket equivalent). It was incredibly cheap because the price generally fluctuates between SGD$8.90 to SGD$24.90. Thoughts: PROS: My main pro for this mask is its price. It moisturises adequately and is great/cheap for a frequent routine. I feel that my complexion has slightly improved! CONS: It doesn’t brighten or moisturise my face very well, where your skin feels bouncy to touch. Not too serum in the mask, but sufficient for one-time use. OVERALL: 6.5/10. It’s great for the price but in terms of brightening effectiveness, nothing to shout for. This is great for a daily mask if you can get it at a good price. But just don’t set your expectations too high, it’s certainly not a “miracle” product, just a moderately adequate one. 4) REVIEW: Dermal Snail Collagen Essence Mask (23g, 0.81oz)Price: Paid SGD$8.99 (USD$7.07) for 24 masks delivered from a Korean seller in Q100 (South East Asia’s Gmarket equivalent). Thoughts: PROS: After using this, my pores were tightened, skin was moisturised and my face was brightened. I really enjoyed this mask, and for its price, I loved it even more. CONS: It is good for daily use to moisturise skin but in terms of improving complexion long-term, it doesn’t achieve that. OVERALL: 7.25/10. In terms of “budget/affordable” masks, the dermal mask was much cheaper than the Secret Key mask, and of better quality with more visible results for daily use. However, if I were to critique this over all the Dermal Masks I have tried: Part One and Part Two Dermal Mask Review. This would probably be in one of my top 5 dermal masks. In closing, I would recommend the Secret Key and Dermal masks, because for its low prices, it does a good job. However, if prices were all equal, my favourite would be the Etude House because gel masks are so much more comfortable 🙂 |
