@Jolizzie 'To deceive' means to do/say something that misleads someone, causing them to think or believe something that it not true, to trick them. It's similar to lying but...you lie *in order to* deceive someone, or your lie deceived someone. You don't necessarily have to lie to deceive someone. You could simply not tell the truth. For example, we're eating dinner and I leave the room to go to the toilet. You're very hungry but you really don't like what's for dinner so you give what's left on your plate to the family dog. When I come back, I might say 'Wow, you must've been hungry!'. You reply with, 'Yeah, I was starving!' You didn't say that you gave the rest of the food to the dog BUT you technically told the truth because you were indeed very hungry. You didn't lie and say you enjoyed the food, however, you deceived me because I now think that you enjoyed the food since you ate it all, even though that's not what happened. J'espère que ça t'aide!
