Determine whether the value given below is from a discrete or continuous data set.

Video Transcript

So you're looking at whether this data is continuous or discrete, and for us we have the weight of a car, And the weight of the car was 1,920.3 kg. And your answer would end up being C This is continuous data because there are infinitely many possibilities and you can't count, and the number of values can't be counted can't be counted to be discreet. You have to be able to count how many of those values there are and write them down. So this is a continuous, the weight is on a continuum. It doesn't jump up every kilogram or every 10th of a kilogram. It's on like a number line that is a continuous scale.

What is the example of continuous data?

Continuous data is data that can take any value. Height, weight, temperature and length are all examples of continuous data. Some continuous data will change over time; the weight of a baby in its first year or the temperature in a room throughout the day.

What is discrete and continuous values?

Discrete data is a numerical type of data that includes whole, concrete numbers with specific and fixed data values determined by counting. Continuous data includes complex numbers and varying data values measured over a particular time interval.

Is this value from a discrete or continuous data set the number of children a person has?

It is discrete as if it was continuous it would mean you can have 225 children, which isn't possible. With discrete, it means you only have 0,1,2,3,etc.

Which of the following is an example of discrete data?

The attendance at a soccer game is an example of discrete data.
