Saturn transit 2022 to 2023

Saturn is currently the strongest planet consistently dominating the others since 2019 or so. He was strong in Sagittarius, then continued in power in his own Capricorn and will again retain his strength in his own Aquarius. Aquarius is also his mooltrikon sign ie the sign where he feels most at home and can give the best results which are visible on the outside.

He will be aspecting Jupiter in Pisces whenever he resides in Capricorn. And when he shifts into Aquarius he will be aspecting Rahu in Aries and later Jupiter in Aries. Thus he will influence these major graha as they give their results. He is also the King of this current Vedic year Shri Shubhakruti naam samvatsar. Overall, he currently enjoys a very significant say over the events unfolding around us.

• Saturn is poised to enter Aquarius on 29th Apr 2022 and he will be here till 29th Mar 2025. 
• In this current year 2022 he will be retrograde from 5th Jun till 23rd Oct for 141 days.
• He will return to Capricorn on 12th Jul 2022 and reenter Aquarius on 17th Jan 2023. 

This post will cover Saturn’s results in Aquarius till 29th Mar 2025 so it will necessarily be a generic post. I prefer writing posts on Saturn’s nakshatra level transits which last for about 13 months. Currently Saturn is transiting through the Dhanishtha nakshatra (post here). 

Saturn stays in a sign for average 2.5 long years. Advanced students can try analyse Saturn’s movement through the Nakshatra filters to improve the accuracy of their predictions. Aquarius is composed of Dhanishtha, Shatataraka and Poorvabhadrapada nakshatra, and Saturn will give different results as he transits through each one of them. And if you wish to fine tune further then try to factor in the Nakshatra pad/ navamsha in your predictions (post here).

Saturn in Aquarius progressively creates situations which lead to a complete change in systems. This is traumatic in the short term but in the in the long run can lead to gain. This is a release of explosive energy which stabilises over a period of time. These initial situations will be turbulent, messy, traumatic and dangerous. War or civil unrest leading to new geopolitical alignments. Or economic collapses on the global levels followed by a complete overhaul of the financial systems. Restructuring of the social hierarchies and even governments is possible. He will rearrange everything that can possibly be rearranged on the material levels. And he does not back down once he gets started, he is implacable, relentless. The players who initiate these activities under his influence show courage in following their vision and not stop till they are done.

This transit will be painful and uncertain for common people. Saturn positioned in Aquarius has a sobering effect as he forces revaluation of all those concepts which you think to be precious or stable. he challenges your preconceived notions and requires you to adjust to the new realities around you. This phase can trigger negative emotions, behaviour and habits in several of us. But, if Saturn is capable of giving you auspicious results, then he will help you discipline yourself and eventually grow.

During this time people will be more politically aware, more materialistic, more driven by personal ambitions, focussed on the profession, business and money, status in the society, activities outside the home, networking, meeting new people, making new groups. Everyone will desire more material things especially upward mobility, power over others and control over resources. And will be more vocal, demanding, act strongly in motivated groups for what they want and sometimes with violence, deceit and fraud.

For Bharat, Saturn will give mixed results. On the physical front, our nation is going to grow and very much so. Our economy will remain stable compared to the rest of the world, our industries etc will continue to perform etc. Our government will focus on keeping our systems stable and insulate us from the external shocks that the world, especially the west will be undergoing. But our problems are going to be internal, ie civil disruptions, terrorist attacks etc the reasons of which are obvious to anyone who follows the news. Genuine Bharatiya will be required to support the nation now. There will be turmoil. However at the end of this period the elected government and PM will prevail and a more sensible and sustainable society will be in place. 

Saturn in Aquarius transit results for the individual signs, considering only Saturn’s influence. These are generic readings which will be modified as per your birth chart details and the transits of the other major planets. These are based on your birth Moon sign, as the Moon determines the timing and fructification of karma. But if your Ascendant sign is strong, then you can blend the results of both the signs to gain a better picture of what can happen.

• eg. if your ascendant sign is Sagittarius then you will get several physical opportunities for growth. In this if your birth Moon is Gemini, then unless you do the Kuldevata/ Guru/ ancestor worship etc, you will suffer emotionally and will not be able to make anything of the opportunities before you. And in this, if Sagittarius is stronger than Gemini in your birth chart then it may overall be a good time (easiest way is to compare the scores of the Ashtakvarga table for these signs).

Aries – This transit is favourable for you as Saturn in the 11th house will give you exceptional gains. But if you have worked for it or are willing to work for it in the coming 2-3 yrs. New opportunities for wealth creation, new connections, new friends will come into your life, make use of them. Your family and social life will be quite happening, expand your friend circles and network. Keep on working hard and remain active, you will get significant successes and growth. Be fair in your decisions as some of these will be life-time decisions. This is a good time and try to make the most of it.

Taurus – Saturn in the 10th house gives overwork, travel and strain. Generally physical health goes down during this transit, so take care of your diet/habits. Your boss will be very demanding but may not give you credit. However keep working sincerely as you will eventually gain from all the work you put in. Professional success is possible if your birth chart supports you. Expect a few delays in achieving your dreams. Money will be adequate but as always plan and budget. Parents, especially the father’s health may be of concern. Your family/ spouse will be cross with you as you won’t get time to be with them. Do schedule your life appropriately. If you do not do this then, Shani will dictate your time table and then it may get difficult. Do your daily pujas and take up some spiritual activity to add positivity to your life.

Gemini – If you do pujas of your adored deity, pay your dues to your ancestors and follow the direction of your Guru then this Saturn will give you gains otherwise he will cause trouble by restricting your own luck, purvapunya and the support you get in life. Ill health, loss of money, loss of Dharma, quarrels with the family, arguments with parents, physical deaths of elderly people in the family etc are possible. Try to keep your ego under control as anger etc will lead to mental stress and other losses too. Luck, if not on your side can lead to several issues so be prepared. 

Cancer – Saturn in the 8th Ashtam Shani, is a dangerous position and this time should be navigated with extreme precautions. He can hit on all the aspects of life which make life secure and comforting. Health can take a beating, especially the body frame can break down. Bones, ligaments, tendons, teeth, nerves, skin, private parts etc related issues can emerge. Accidents and sudden surgeries are possible. If the longevity is at an end then this period can cause physical death. Trouble from the wife, the in-laws and occult activities are possible. Litigation, court cases, fights linked to ancestral property and humiliation is possible. Loss of wealth, loss of intimacy with the spouse. Lack of nourishing food, lack of rest are typical results. Money should be adequate but it is advisable to budget. 

Leo – This is a Kantak Shani/ thorny Saturn, position. He brings danger to the self or to the spouse. If the longevity is at an end, physical death is possible else physical /emotional separation can occur. Professional failures, loss of income, reduction in wealth and humiliation is possible. You will have to work hard in order to succeed during this time. Lack of comfort, restlessness, unnecessary travel, loneliness, depression is a common result. Physical health can show signs of disease and ageing. Pay attention to your married life and to your business in case you operate with a business partner.

Virgo – Saturn’s transit through the 6th is considered to be quite good as he does not let enemies, disease, debts, etc surface so make the most of it. However do not ignore any symptoms and consult medical help as needed. In this transit, you can expect a reasonably good health, success in profession, a stable income and mental peace. You might be tempted to take on loans or engage in land deals, do so only if you are sure about things. Things will be better than what they were in the past so you can take calculated risks to move ahead in life.

Libra – Here Saturn is transiting the 5th sign from Libra and he will affect the creative expression of the personality as a whole. So raising your children will require more efforts from your side. You will be required to pay more attention to them and their activities. This is not a good time for speculation or gambling. Creativity will be low and this may lead to demotions or loss of job or failure in exams. Pay cuts and need to budget is possible. Health can be adversely affected. You must continue doing your daily pujas, mantra etc to keep yourself positive in this time.

Scorpio – Ardha-ashtama Saturn is when he transits your 4th. This is also called a Kantaka or thorny Shani. He generally drains resources on several levels, ie emotional, physical, monetary resources are all affected. You may be required to leave your homeland or at least compelled to leave your residence and relationships with your dear ones will be strained. Your parents, especially the mother will be a source of worry and there may be agreements within your family regarding property. You might be forced to sell landed properties or be cheated in property cases. Diseases of the joints, nerves and skin and road accidents are possible. This is not a time to be careless or rash.

Sagittarius – Saturn is transiting your 3rd and it will be a good transit. Your Sade sati is over and now you can enjoy the results that Saturn will give you during his Aquarius transit. You will feel more empowered, your skills will be recognised, your luck will improve, health will be good, team-mates and family members will be helpful etc. Wealth will increase, you will pass all competitive exams, a promotion is possible at work, traveling for work or pleasure will be fruitful, spouse and children will be supportive. Overall it is a good transit, so make the most of it. Time is on your side.

Capricorn – the last phase of Sade sati is often the most emotionally tiring as Saturn brings several unpleasant truths before you. Your family members, mother etc can cause you stress, you might be cheated in matters of ancestral property. Your spouse and children can be a source of unhappiness and you might be separated from them temporarily. You will be given several responsibilities in the office and this may affect your health and rest. Try to take up some spiritual practice to restore your emotional stability. Ego, pride, arrogance will be counter-productive and can land you in trouble. However the very last part of this transit can bring a different maturity within you as you slowly emerge from Saturn’s intense influence with a new confidence.

Aquarius – this transit is the middle phase of Sade sati. Janma Shani causes severe strain on the mind as he directly affects the birth Moon. A sense of fear, depression and loneliness ensues. You may not feel enthused about anything, laziness and lethargy will affect your mind. Everyone whom you feel emotional support from can cause you unhappiness, this can have its effect on your physical health too. Your married life can see turmoil. Family and friends will cause you stress. Income can reduce so budgeting is necessary. Do your daily pujas etc to support your mind in this time.

Pisces – you have now started in the first phase of your Sade sati. The run of luck that you were enjoying in the past 2-3yrs is now done with. You are going to have to grow up as Saturn will bring in maturity with his scripted karmic lessons. With Saturn you cannot break rules, show self-ego or cheat others, if you do this now, he will ensure that you get your karma delivered in the next two stages of the Sade sati. Health, physical and emotional, will be affected. Money might get tight as expenditure increases, budgeting is advisable. Your boss will expect more from you and not appreciate you for what you do. Expected promotions or salary raises may not materialise. If in business, do not trust others unnecessarily and remain aware of what your partners are upto. You need to maintain your positivity by doing your daily pujas etc.

When you tailor the above for your personal chart here are some tips you can use.

• If Saturn is favourable for you, ie if your ascendant sign is Capricorn, Aquarius, Taurus or Libra then he can give you the promised benefits as per your birth chart.
• Generally Saturn is favourable in the 3rd 6th 11th so another way of looking at this is that whatever Aries, Virgo and Sagittarius signify in your chart, these areas in your life may show some positive changes connected to Saturn.
• If you have a significant planet in your birth chart Aquarius then Saturn will constrain him from giving his full results. Anything represented by Aquarius in your birth chart has the potential to cause stress in your life. But if you accept the routine that Saturn represents then this planet can give slow but sustained results.
• If you have a strong birth chart, ie strong birth Moon, ascendant sign/lord, vargottam planets, strong yogkarak, etc then you will be better able to handle the inevitable changes in life. Whatever happens, you will somehow retain your position of strength.

Use the Ashtakvarga system for a rapid analysis of the transits. Note the points that Saturn has in Aquarius sign in your personal Ashtakvarga table. If this is 4 or more then this transit will be more significant for you, he will create some positive opportunities in your life. Also check the power of Aquarius sign, ie if its total point score is 27 or more then the sign as a whole will more positively influence your life.

Dasha results are will be modified by this Saturn transit. So if you are under a Mahadasha or Antardasha of Saturn you should carefully analyse what this transit means to you, as the results will be stronger. If you are under the Dasha period of a favourable planet, ie Ascendant lord, Yogkarak, owner of kendra/ kona then you will be more easily able to navigate the issues presented by Saturn during this transit. 

These these past two months, March and April 2022 we have seen the transits of Rahu, Ketu, Jupiter and now Saturn. The four slow moving graha changing their signs back to back in a very short time span is not a good thing. All the aspects of life which they control in your chart will see significant changes in a very short time frame. If the birth chart, ascendant sign/ lord and birth Moon are powerful then you will be able to adjust to this rapid change, else there will be stress.

There are several ways of analysing charts, they are all used to cross check the results you are predicting. The same positive/ negative results repeating in at least 3 different analysis patterns indicates that the predicted effect will be strong. 

Remedies, as always are two, Daana and Mantra. You either give away the unbalanced energy with Daana or reinforce your energy with Mantra. (use the index page for more posts on this). When you are doing remedies you are basically strengthening your 1st house by powering on your 9th and 5th houses, harnessing the 9/5 axis. Your purva punya protects your personality and your environment if you perform activities linked to the 9th house. Similarly your mantra shakti feeds energy into yourself if you perform activities of the 5th house. When you add energy to your Dharma trikon, your capacity for weathering events in life increases. Doing Dana on the day of the transit is a good way of ensuring that his energies remain balanced in your life during the duration of the transit. You can also give Dana on Saturdays, especially sesame oil can be given to Shani temples regularly. You can also do his mantra on Saturdays. Doing regular daily pujas and some personal spiritual practice, ie your Dhyan mantra or your Jaap-mantra is a life time remedy which addresses the very many issues which continually pop up in life.

The third option is behavioural changes but this is possible only if you have some understanding of your own self and have a back up of strength and energy from your regular spiritual practice. 

Personally I associate Bhagwan Shani with Bhagwan Mahakaal as Saturn is the power of Time, the slow grinding force which reduces our ego into dust. He is capable of giving a lot on the material front and also on the spiritual front, but he demands that you work for it. Most of us do not appreciate his discipline and ethics so suffer during his typical transits.
