I suspect Leica was trying to make as accurate adapter as possible, it also works with the lens electronics, which other adapters don't. Having a helical on the adapter would be asking for imprecision. Given the thickness of the adapter it wouldn't have much effect anyway.

For macro focusing on the CL there are macro lenses, adapting one from another manufacturer works well. I use 2 lenses from my Canon FD days and have used my micro Nikkor too. Pictures from the 60mm Elmarit look phenomenal, but it is a little rich for my bank account.

For just close focusing there are 3rd party L mount lenses that do focus closer than Leica lenses. Also Leica has made some extension tubes.

Thanks for your input guys. I was trying to avoid buying another adapter, especially after paying 400 for the current one. My go to lens for my CL at the moment is a 28mm Cron which I like a lot except for the minimum focus distance. I was looking to get a Voigtlander for indoor shooting/portraits with a bit of character and thought about the 40mm f1/4 but with a close to 1 meter minimum focus distance it’s a no go. At this point would rather invest the money I would have to pay for a new adapter on a lens that has a small focus distance such as either the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 or 50mm f1.5.

One lens I have in L mount that focuses down to .35M or about 14in is a 55 f1.4 7 Artisans lens. I bought it because it was $149 and a focal length I wanted. Surprising lens. But as with all cheap lenses I have a good copy, others have had problems. It is a lens that I may do what one of my photo teachers used to do, buy 3 copies, choose the best one send the others back. This photo at f5.6, closest focus.

The min. focus distance of the 1.4/40 Nokton is 0.7m, not 1m.

The 1.5/50 Nokton has 0.9m (LTM-version) or also 0.7m (M-mount version)

The 1.2/40 Nokton has 0.5m but is a substantially larger lens (which may or may not matter) and more expensive too (not much available on the used market yet)

Thanks, I realize that the 50mm f1.5 is .9 so it’s a no go. The sigma 45mm f2.8 looks interesting, but slow max aperture. The 40mm f1.2 is large, albeit small for what it is and much lighter than the 50mm version

I like the design of your Peipro better but it wasn't available when I purchased the Kipon.
